overcoming a backlog (of sorts)
i'll likely never be free of all of my backlogs. one of the "joys" of homeownership is that there's always something you're putting off until next week, next month, next year, ad infinitum. my steam "gaming backlog" as they call it is over a hundred games long. and my personal todo lists of movies to watch, books to read, and so forth are nigh insurmountable.
i've been screwing around with this website for the past couple of weeks, call it my latest fixation. getting the layout right, learning the smallest amount of liquid to enable a dynamic project gallery, and filling out that gallery with posts for each of my leathercrafting projects to date. i've been averaging about one a month, it seems like? but i really ought to try getting those numbers up. but that requires putting the web dev to the side, and i'm not quite satisfied with it yet. maybe i just need to table some things as a "roadmap" like i saw some other folks on the indie web doing.
the whole purpose of making this site was to give myself somewhere to blog, but here i am almost a month later with only four posts. most days i get between 0 and 60 minutes to work on this site, and i've spent most of it lately just trying to get some project posts filled out. surely that could have waited? alas, my brain only now provided me with an alternative course of action, now that the aforementioned backlog has been cleared.
on another note, what does it say about me that, at this point, half of my blog's posts will have parentheticals in the titles? probably not anything particularly inspiring.
i don't know how many years ago it was at this point, but once upon a time, my new year's resolution was to post more. i made that statement on cohost of all places, if that tells you anything. and here i am at least 2 years later and still floundering. but i'm doing better, i think? perhaps? i'm more invested in this because it's more mine. i have a motivation to put things here because it's something that has my name on it. i think that's enough to make a difference.
anyway, here it is, another post and the third this month. a new record! talk to you again soon.
